Post Body

Minnesota's governor recently signed a law into affect allowing the use of medical cannabis extracts and concentrates, bud itself still remains illegal. I moved to Colorado about six months ago and have visited home a few times. On the most recent trip I was reasonably stopped in southwestern Minnesota for having a headlight out. The cop ended up seeing the oil rig that happened to be sticking out of my back pack. I was all packed for a long trip of camping on the way back to Minnesota from Colorado. In Colorado I am a medicinal marijuana card holder, however I do not believe Minnesota recognizes other states patients. Where this story takes a turn however is the fact that my father has terminal cancer and qualifies for the terms of Minnesota's new law however there is not a system set in place yet for people to sign up yet or buy the drug. I am being charged with a felony in the fifth degree for possession of a controlled substance. I was in jail for 2 days and I had a whole changing of thought on the drug incarceration issue as well. I used to believe the laws dumb or stupid, maybe outdated, however instead now all I feel is that these are some of the most immoral laws that our country has. I have no previous offenses or charges, and not a violent offender in any regards so I hope for not too severe of a punishment, as the maximum allowed is five years and or a ten thousand dollar fine. The other thing is that the governor of the state only signed this law within the last month, this case may be something to set precedent, I speak with a lawyer tomorrow and that's why anything in here may be subject to edit as it is only a quick vague post about the ordeal and a general summary of the situation ive experienced in the last few days. EDIT- More info Court has charged me with felony possession in the fifth degree, have returned my vehicle after initial seizure. Facing 5 years and a 10000 dollar fine on top of lawyer fees ect. Dad will most likely not be around by the time of the next court date. Not allowed to use medical cannabis as a defense in the court room Was within my legal limit for prescription use, however they weighed the whole chocolate bar instead of adding up the milligram amounts of thc oil in each, all were at about 100 milligrams.
