how to sleep without it

Post Body

i have been an insomniac my whole life. i’ve tried a few sleeping meds and i hated them all. i won’t take any more. melatonin doesn’t do a damn thing. i started smoking daily in 2021 and started getting the best sleep of my life. i rarely have trouble falling asleep, and if i do i just smoke a bit more and it knocks me out.

my psych and i are working on an adhd diagnosis. he told me that marijuana and adhd don’t work well together and make it harder to treat. which makes a lot of sense, i do think my memory (which wasn’t great before) has gotten worse since i started smoking and i’m quite forgetful. i used to smoke frequently throughout the day, but now i smoke mostly just at night or a lounging day off. but my memory still isn’t great. i’m a cna so i get asked for things constantly and have to multiple task and do other things while i work my way to get what they asked for. i forget things CONSTANTLY.

anyway, he asked if i’d consider quitting. i said i’d decrease it more and just smoke enough to help me fall asleep, but i just don’t want to go back to the sleeping problems by quitting. but i want my memory to be better. whenever i’ve taken a t-break, my sleep reverts back to exactly how it was before. long story short, for people who used it to sleep and had to stop for whatever reason, what did you do to help yourself sleep?
