SO I’ll get this out of the way: I’ve always liked Taylor Swift. Not as a person necessarily. I don’t think I’ve particularly liked her as a person/figure for about a decade. But I’ve always liked, and still do like, a lot of her music. I’ve never thought of it as “art” per se and I have been very aware of her limitations as a songwriter for a long time (though admittedly I kinda got tricked again with some of the tracks on folklore and evermore) but she’s always been a place I’ve turned to when I’m having romantic woes lol. Her songs often really touch on what I’m feeling, even one track from TTPD which is overall one of the most egregious albums I’ve ever heard. But now I very much dislike (I think even hate) Taylor as a person and what she’s come to represent as a figure. So my questions are these:
- How do you all feel about people still listening to Taylor swift’s stuff while remaining highly critical of her character?
And
- Do any of you who used to like Taylor have recommendations for other artists I should check out who might fill that same niche for me but with more integrity and higher song quality?
Also pls don’t be mean to me lol I’m trying here and I really do strongly dislike/I think hate her. Ok thanks 🩷
