Personal story: a few years back when All Too Well (10 minute version from the vault Christmas version target only exclusive pre-order deluxe w/ extra cheese) came out, my best friend and I (when I was still mostly supportive of Taylor) had a whole listening party. It was fun, we watched the, in hindsight, terribly directed short "film", and had a good time. My friend kept mentioning how Jake Gyllenhaal was a terrible person because he made "Taylor want to die." At first I thought she was joking, but no.... she actually thought that Jake Gyllenhaal made Taylor want to end her life for reals. Over their age difference/broken relationship. I tried explaining to her that you know... It's supposed to be a little over exaggerated but nothing helped. She had convinced herself that Taylor Swift had suicidal tendencies and she felt seen/heard because she also went through the the same emotions at one point. I think that that was the first time I started to realize that 1. Her fans are insane. 2. It's getting cult-like 3. Thank God I got her out of my system.
