1st time greasing axel and ball bearings, need help!

1st timer, I noticed that there was no washer behind the castle nut. Is this ok? Do some trailers not have it? If not, how do I know what size washer to get? I have an enclosed utility trailer. Please comment if more info is needed, I'll be on standby
