My girlfriend and I are going to NYC for the week past Christmas (arriving the day after Christmas and leaving later on NYC). We have a general idea of what we'd like to do and have done a lot of planning. It is also worth noting that we have both been to NYC before, but we want to fill in the pieces that we hadn't done before. Below is the general idea of what we would like to do. Also, the hotel we're staying at is the Jane Hotel (just feel like this might be important information to tell).
- December 26th (Monday)- Arrive @ Laguardia at 10 AM then either paying for luggage storage for a few hours or try and drop it out at the hotel (I have read that you can drop if off). Or just bring our carry on with us and go to a restaurant. We plan on wearing our tacky " I Love NY" shirts and get cringy pictures/ visiting Time Square, Rockefeller Center, and going to a few shops. Then if we can score free 9/11 Museum Tickets then we will go that route and do that. If we get the free tickets, we will come back to whatever photo opportunity we missed. In an ideal world we would eat @ Katz since we both didn't get to eat it when we went before. But we may be tired and decide on a more convenient option.
- December 27th (Tuesday) - The next day we got basic tickets through the NPS to do Statue of Liberty/ Ellis Island. We planned to do this for the duration of the whole day. Or planned at least, so we weren't overwhelmed if we didn't get everything done. But if time allows then I may want to take a quick stop in Federal Hall, Castle Clinton, and take pictures around Wall Street. This might be a good day to walk around DUMBO/ Brooklyn Bridge. As for food we are pretty flexible this day and might just pick a quick iconic option.
- December 28th (Wednesday) This day seems to have a lot of options of things to do. We may want to make this be a more chill day for us. The strong likelihood options for this day could include going to Moma and or the Guggenheim. We could also consider going to NY Aquarium and exploring Coney Island. At a later hour we could also consider taking the Staten Island Ferry for the experience.
- December 29th (Thursday)- While I know they are super far apart. This might be a good day to go to the Met and the Met Cloisters. We have both been to the Met before so we would likely do the main highlights of the Met. We both want to see the Met Cloisters because it is one of the places mentioned in this coffee book that we both enjoy. For the night we made reservations for Keens Restaurant and might look at the menu beforehand so we can order quicker and not spend as much time here. Other options could include picking something we didn't do from above.
- December 30th (Friday)- This might be our chillest date on here as we will likely be exhausted from the running around all week. In an ideal world we imagine we will explore Greenwich Village and get coffee/ food all day long. We could also consider doing the High Line since it is super close to our hotel. Going to Chelsea Market might also be a good way to spend a few hours. The Whitney is also close by and has free museum hours between 7 and 10 that we'd get tickets for.
- December 31st ( Saturday)- Our flight heads out @ 5:30 PM from Laguardia but we have to check out by 11 AM. We will likely try and sleep in so we have energy for the day. So, we will probably begin heading to the airport. But along the way we might hit up a restaurant/ coffee shop/ bagel shop(s) that we haven't been able to hit at this point.
I know our itinerary might appear to be a bit of an overkill and we will adjust as we go. But we are both very quick people who enjoy going at a faster pace and seeing as much as possible.
We also plan on coming back to NYC one day as we want to go to Belmont Stakes, A Yankees/ Mets game, layovers from other trips where we might extend for a day, etc.
Other options we would consider switching things out for are The Radio City Rockettes Show, Coney Island (if we don't make it out to the location), Governer Island, Theodore Roosevelt Childhood Home, Tops Diner, Alexander Hamiltons Grange, Broadway show etc.
Then for food options we're considering Peter Luger, Joe Pizza, Los Tacos, Gray Papaya, Sylvia's, Veselka, Cafe Reggio, McSorleys Old Ale House, etc.
Edit- just found out that our hotel lets us bring luggage earlier so that is very exciting !
