Planning on going to Scandinavia next Oct/Nov. Any suggestions for travel or things to see and ways to travel around?

I've started planning next year's 6 week trip and decided on Scandinavia to see the Northern Lights. Becuause its early stages of research, I'm wondering what other travellers (or locals!) recommend seeing. I like history so Viking relics would be awesome, as would fossilised mammoths if such an area exists. I'm also thinking of heading to Finse to see where Hoth was shot for ESB. Is train the best way to get around? (edit:spelling)
