My mom came into some money recently that she wants to use for travel. We're trying to decide which country to go to in Europe. She's spent a few weeks in England and I lived in Germany for five months so we aren't going to those places.
What we're looking for: Great art/museums (her and I are both art lovers), history (I particularly enjoy the morbid stuff, haha), old architecture, places with a bit of 'culture shock' that feels quintessentially foreign to a couple of Maritime Canadians like us. We love natural beauty and landscapes too, but she doesn't have the stamina she used to, so keep that in mind!
Length of trip: 2-3 weeks.
Climate: We can handle cold and rain, but in moderation, haha.
Our possible countries: My mom came up with this list of 10 that she's interested in: Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Denmark , Czech Republic, Greece, Belgium, Spain, Hungary, Slovenia, France. For me, France, Italy and Czech Republic are high contenders but I'd be okay with any of my mom's choices. This isn't a strict list, so if you know an underrated country/city to suggest, let me know :D
Budget not an issue because we're fairly good at planning that stuff to suit us.
EDIT: And thanks in advance to anyone who shares their thoughts! :)
