[Canada -> US] What's the best way to spend money while minimizing/eliminating currency conversion fees?

So US -> other countries is pretty simple via Capital One or Charles Schwab (are there better alternatives now?), but I'm not sure how to approach Canada -> US. Capital One in Canada seemed to offer different cards, and Charles Schwab was a little difficult to sift through the rules. Is there service from Charles Schwab in Canada with free debit card and no currency conversion fees?
