Guided Tours vs. Planning it Yourself

Hi Everyone,

I've searched a few times but haven't found an answer to this question (if you know of where it is in this sub, please link away! :) )

I live in the US and am planning a trip to Europe for 10 days. I know there is a lot of itinerary ideas online (and in r/travel) and I could work hard to search every detail to find an itinerary that works for us but I know that there are also cookie cutter trips that are guided as well. Since I've never been to Europe I'm not sure which would be the best option.

I'm curious if anyone has experience or opinions on guided trips vs. planning your own trip. Any advice is appreciated!
