We had a trip for end of July/early August to Asia which is getting canceled for various reasons.
Totally at a loss where to go, and only a few weeks left.
We've been to a lot of places (see map below), and would like to explore something new, but can't seem to come up with any good ideas. HELP!
We like to move fast, and this would be a 10-14 day trip. Drive from place to place. 3-4 locations. Would prefer to avoid very crowded places, and not very hot. Budget not an important consideration.
Option 1 - drive from Britanny-Bordeaux-San Sebastian. Pros - beautiful scenery and not very hot. Cons: t would be right during Olympics, and I would expect a lot of Parisians to escape to the coast.
Option 2 - would have been southeast Europe (Balkans, etc), but many places there are close to 100F/35C! Too hot.
Option 3 - northern Spain. San Sebastian to A Coruna, detour to Rioja? We do enjoy variety, and not sure something like that would be diverse enough, or get repetitive after a while.
Option 4 - that's where the collective wisdom of Reddit comes in! Any suggestions for ~10-12 day trip, roughly July 26-Aug 9, where we won't be stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic, or boiling in the heat?
