So my partner and I are trying to pick some where to go and because we are both different kinds of travelers I being a Traveler ( cheaply trying to see and live in the moment) Him a vacationer ( wants to relax and go check out a few places, is ok spending a bit more to sleep in a hotel over a hostel or car) We want to go to the west area so Washington, Oregon and California are on the list arizona is also up possible. I like being outside and would like to see red woods and being around the ocean he would like to be in areas that have a bit of "city" life to it . also would like to take to a amtrak train if possible thru the west coast area.

We had thought of going to fly in to san jose and then go down to santa cruz for a few days and rent a car for a day or two then take the amtrak from san jose to los angles then fly out thru there after a few days. But a issue we found would be would be be stuck over night having to pay for a hotel for one night or having to take a some what pricey uber to santa cruz at 10pm due to the flight. We would rather take the 17 express thats to santa cruz

SO now we have been somewhat back and forth looking at different places along the coast and would love some opines on cool places along the coast line thats could possible appease us both or possible feed back for our now plan.

We kind of have hit a road block and thought of good old reddit to ask for advice.

ANything at this point the poor man is banging his head trying to figure a plan out to make us both happy and him I dont think I'm helping with my 20 million list of places and things we can do and see

He's 32 likes being inside, Frisbee golf player wants a pool and not having to be running around some where all the time. Hates flying so nothing crazy has to be non stop flight. He really likes trying different food the most I would say hasnt been to any of those states beside arizona. He has been to las vagas too as well. It will also be his birthday that week.

I'm 27 loves being outside, loves trees and paddle boarding, I'm a photography so like interesting places have been to at less 36 of the states so far I alsoh ave a thing for Photoing doors. I also like checking out local museums of all kinds.

We would like to stay under 1700 total if possible for the lodging and travel ( flights, train, ect) as we are trying to spilt the travel and lodgeing fees.
