In least than 15 days, i'll be at the airport waiting a departure for my first ever solo travel backpacking in my mid thirties.
I'll spend the first few days in Athens. Than, to help me soak in and help me to get use to travel in other country on my own, I booked a GAdventures trip that will bring me in Meteora, Crete and to Santorini.
After that, I'm going to Croatia and I'll start my solo travel in Dubrovnik and taking a bus to Kotor.
I have two scenario after that.
1- Go to Kosovo (Prizren, Pristina), Macedonia (Skopje, Ohrid), Albania (Tirana, Shkoder) than coming back to Kotor before going to Bosnia and follow the rest.
2- Bosnia (Mostar, Sarajevo) - Split - Zagreb - Slovenia (Ljubljana, Bled) - Austria (Vienna) - Slovakia (Brastislava) - Poland (Krakow) - Czech Republic (Brno - Prague).
I'll travel for two months, maybe few weeks more.
Here's everything that I packed (I made some ajustments after a post in one bag cutting down on clothes and jackets that are still in the picture) -> https://imgur.com/a/FzTpmU9
My backpack is around 9kg (20 pounds) and my personal item is 4.0 (9 pounds) right now (because the laptop mostly). I bring some pins of my country flag that I'll give to people I meet during my trip!
My questions
1- What are your tips?
2- What places I should spend more time?
3- What hostels do you recommend? Principally, in Athens right now, cause I didn't book the three first nights.
4- Should I get an Holafly esim? Should I buy a SimCard at the Athens Airport? Which is the better option? Will love to have a hotspot option cause I bring my laptop with me cause I'll maybe have some work to do to get money rolling. Love my boss to let me go like that!
5- Does I need to cut down the weight of my bag?
