Midi or audio for drum beats?

Just a general thought, I use Logic Pro x so was wondering what the best way is to programme drums. Iām a musician but a newbie in production.
While using midi is way faster, many people recommend dragging in individual audio samples which gives full control and teaches how to manipulate audio.
Just wanted to know what most people do?
