(they probably do, but I must know the truth anyways)
So I'm starting to get into in depth mixing and mastering. I've searched through Reddit for tips and answers, but nobody ever gives a straight answer. So I'll ask myself:
When it comes to trap, does it really matter keeping your volumes under a certain threshold?
I know most streaming platforms want their songs under -14 LUFS. But I'll listen to a lot of beats, and they sound loud AS FUCK. If I make my beats sound loud, they'll exceed that -14 threshold, and by quite a lot (apparently, my beats usually reach -10 or -9).
Some professional records from Young Thug or Future also seem to exceed the volumes allowed by streaming sites, as I've seen from loudnesspenalty.com. So I've started to wonder if at the end, does it really matter? When it comes to trap, do producers really worry about if it exceeds -14?
I'm sure it actually does, but I'm also confident that it's not the top thing to worry about. So if it does, can someone point me in the right direction to learn about how volumes work?
