So just this week I had my 4th anniversary of an anonymous donation. All I know is my liver went to a child, at my request going into the matching. I have no idea of age, male/female or anything as the family opted to not meet, but my coordinator let me know that if I wanted to write a letter I could.
What would you want to know about your donor?
I guess I'd just plan to introduce myself and then explain that donation was a dream come true for me. I had previously worked with a pediatric transplant population an was inspired. I had no complications donating and am thankful for the recipient as this has had a profound and lasting positive effect on my life. I was just curious if beyond sharing my perspective would there be anything on the donor side that would be of interest that I might not otherwise consider. Any ideas will be appreciated.
