What is life on dialysis like?

Post Body

Hi all,

Unfortunately due to a tumour that has been discovered on my kidney transplant.

(thanks to this group for encouraging me to get a check up! https://www.reddit.com/r/transplant/comments/m4pfqe/new_pain_in_transplant_area_7_year_post_transplant/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf ).

I have to have the transplant removed after 7 years of having it. I was very lucky to have a preemptive transplant, so never had dialysis.

My question for the group is what is it like, on a day to day basis? Will I be able to work? I guess it will be like renal failure with the tiredness etc with peaks of feeling ‘better’ post dialysis.

I will be on Haemodialysis. I will be on dialysis for at least two years, as they can’t transplant me till I’m two years cancer free. Then obviously waiting for a new transplant.

Thank you for any help you can give.
