Early in my straight guy journey to realizing I was transgender journey, I wanted to look like "not a guy" when I was wear women's clothing.
I am unable to comprehend faces as more than a single unit. I couldn't say why a face was female vs male. Androgynous faces I really struggled with.
Then I discovered articles like this: https://design.tutsplus.com/articles/the-differences-between-male-and-female-portraits--vector-14954
"These articles broke down faces in a way that I understood. The article showed how artists can systematically create a "male" or "female" face. One of the exercises is to "As an experiment, try swapping the jaw line and chins on either sex and see how it changes the overall feel of the portrait. "
With this approach, I could finally get my brain to analyze a face. I can consciously look at a face for the exact sex markers mentioned in the article.
The article also covers how to make a face younger or more aged. (more than just wrinkles!)
