Hello. I've started learning Japanese (halfway through Genki I) with ambitions to be a translator. I made an attempt to translate a paragraph of text (with some help from jisho.org for kanji and words I don't know) as a very early baseline for comparing my translation skills as I grow.
Below, I will first paste the Japanese text (taken from https://mainichi.jp/articles/20170904/ddm/013/070/004000c) followed by my attempt at translating. If you can, please let me know my major types of flaws.

石原詢子（いしはら・じゅんこ）さん

父が詩吟揖水（いすい）流の家元で、４歳の時から詩吟を始めました。父は「勉強はできなくても詩吟を極めて日本一になってほしい」という人で、厳しく頑固でした。夏は朝４時半には起こされて、近所の神社へ連れて行かれ、そこで発声練習をするんです。小学生になっても登校前にお稽古（けいこ）、学校に行って戻ってきてもお稽古と、遊びたい盛りの自分には苦痛でした。それでも父には嫌だとは言えませんでした。
