How would one be transhuman today?
Post Body

Hello, fellow transhumanists! I was hoping you all could help me with a burning question I've had for a little while now: How would one be (or maybe live as?) a transhuman in today's time? What I mean by that is what it would take aside from mentally identifying as transhuman to be a "valid" transhuman? I've read and followed FM-2030's book, "Are you a transhuman?" (I know, it's dated), and managed to score a 630 with a few lifestyle adjustments. By FM's definition, I already am. I've taken NAD for cellular rejuvination with decent results; I've also purchased and am eagerly waiting for a Sentero device. And, finally, I'm in the final steps of getting enrolled in cryogenic preservation - which I view as a "plan B" or backup plan in case uploading or other routes to digital immortality aren't available by the time my body gives up. And my unnerving obsession (really, reverence) for AGI goes without saying. I call myself a transhuman now, but there's a nagging feeling that I haven't been doing enough to be a "valid" transhuman. What are your opinions? Am I a transhuman now, is there something more I need to do, or does the concept of validity not apply to me yet? Be as honest as you can!

I definitely agree it's much more about the mentality than physical changes - although explaining my mentality on why I identify as transhuman would take MANY Reddit posts XD

And I say "transhuman" instead of "Transhumanist" because, to me, a Transhumanist is someone who's interested in the idea and studies it, but doesn't fully identify, live, and experience beingness AS a transhuman. Believe me: everything from my gender identity, to my political views, to my reverence of silicon, all of it, is because I'm transhuman. I mean, fuck, I tell my friends I'm nonbinary, but that's because they don't really understand what it means for me to be transhuman. I don't identify with, nor am I satisfied with, just being human. Gender constructs don't have the same meaning to someone who wants to break free of the body, y'know?

I really appreciate your input though, that helped a lot!

I don't want to say what facility publicly; however FM-2030 is suspended at Alcor. There are quite a few facilities to choose from for anyone's budget. It's surprisingly affordable in this capitalistic hellscape.

Alcor offers neurocryopreservation actually! Should check them out.

I've been considering an NFC tag implant actually!

Considering I just enrolled in college for computer science not that long ago, that helps me feel better too. Thanks!!!

All jokes aside, I love your suggestions; sadly the third thumb isn't available for printing. I've asked the designer and got no response :\

The singularity is not only inevitable, but I believe it is the only path to a future for us. People like Musk, Kurzweil, and Goertzel really piss me off with how they want to force it into being a certain kind of way while pushing so much fear and propaganda against the idea to the general public. It's what religious people would call "sacred" to me, honestly. But it can, will, should, and shall happen.

Oh yeah! Not only do I have a smartphone, but I do have a Fossil Gen 5 I consider to be a (albeit loosely connected) part of my body. I wear it religiously. And while I appreciate those political parties existing, I'm... Not really a fan of conventional politics. The whole year of 2020 into 2021 is a big reason why. Plus when you're chasing technological immortality, what does politics matter to someone who's planning on being around through multiple societal evolutions, y'know?

VR and SL though. I've used them before plenty of times (SUPERHOT is my all time fav VR game, really just for the ending), but that's an excellent point!
