hey guys! i have voice dysphoria and just realized i can learn sign!
Post Body

pfft. Deaf people? who cares about them. i just don’t wanna voice train. exclusively using sign definitely won’t have any negative impacts on my life! (such as basically no one signing irl) no, i’m not shoehorning myself into a disability i don’t have.

uj/ i’ve seen a couple posts like this, and they genuinely make me see red. including one meme that actually said “you learn sign language to communicate with Deaf people, i learn sign language to avoid voice training, we are not the same.” like. unironically. i mean, i’m all for more people knowing sign, i’m hearing but used to be learning, but that motivation is so fucking horrid it makes me feel like they wouldn’t learn or appreciate it correctly.
