Buying Girls Clothes

So I don’t really own many girls clothes yet but I wanna start gathering some together, only problem is every time I’m in a shop I look at all the amazing clothes and leave empty handed in fear I’m gonna buy something that’s makes me look terrible.
My question is are there any items I could start with that are considered essentials for any girls wardrobe then maybe I could build from there. I just have no idea where to start🤷🏼♀️
