Has anyone had a good experience trying to get Nottingham GIC to help your GP arrange a bridging script or blood tests under harm minimisation guidelines for self medication?
Right now I’d ideally want an NHS script for my Estrogen and Cypro, but I don’t expect a reasonable dosw to be forthcoming if I took that approach. The GP had the nerve to say it wasn’t arranged due to delays at the GIC - in fact they never offered to consider it…
My GP is also been awkward with blood tests, they will provide liver function, full blood count, etc BUT NOT Estrogen or testosterone levels. Initially the excuse was they can’t read the results - so I gave them guidance from the GIC on what results to expect. They refused again on the basis that document is for shared care….
I wonder if it’s worthwhile asking the GP to contact the GIC for clarification on wether or not they are allowed to interpret blood test results using that document and maybe also explain to them the importance of that test.
I did also try telling them I’m perfectly capable of reading the results myself and making changes as needed, as I’m aware the GP can’t advise on dose changes and they said no, they have to read the tests (Despite patient entitlement to see the results regardless)
They also said local endocrinology services are unable to help with hormone blood tests neither. I presume trans broken arm syndrome as I’m sure they can check the hormone levels of a cis women.
So looking for anyone’s experiences with asking Nottingham to provide bridging or blood tests. Just to clarify I am on their wait list.
