I'm an Astrotrain fan, but I have to back up Blitzwing too as the characters are close to one another. Seeing Blitzwing being placed on a generic seeker was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen done to such a recognizable character. I'm not saying he had to look exactly like his G1 counterpart, but Blitzwing requires 2 things: a jet mode and a tank mode. We didn't get the latter and I was so disappointed with that. And no, that one toy that was just a remold of Megatron doesn't count. If the character was just going to be a generic seeker, they could have called him Ramjet or Thrust if it wasn't going to be Starscream. But no. I think Hasbro made this decision, which was incredibly ridiculous.
What makes me even more upset is that while Blitzwing was killed off before he could demonstrate a tank mode, the 2 main Decepticons were triple changers while Blitzwing, who was one of the first triple changers in existence, wasn't. I mean, how?! How could Hasbro do something so insulting?! I love Shatter and Dropkick, and the scene where they surround the trailer was so badass, but Blitzwing is an iconic Decepticon and did not deserve the name-drop treatment. I love Travis Knight's work, but if he was such a G1 fan how could he let such a thing slide? Blitzwing was not a seeker in the G1 cartoon, he was a triple changer, and that is going to remain a sour taste in my mouth unless it is rectified in a future film.
What are your thoughts on this debacle?
