I’ve been practicing TM for over a month after my official training with the TM center. Since then I have been meditating almost every single day twice a day. When I went for my official training, I do feel like I had a full transcendent experience with the trainer in the office. Since then I feel like I’m getting very minimal positive effects.
I do appreciate taking time out of my day away from screens and distractions to really quiet down – that has been nice. But I don’t feel like I’m getting deep enough. I continue to say the mantra nice and steady and many thoughts about my day continue to creep in . I accept them and move on. And then another thought comes. And another.
Most of the time I am eager for the meditation to end. I look at the app to see how many minutes I have left and it’s often between 8 and 5 minutes left. then the “come out slowly” takes forever.
I’m really hoping I can get to where I can get to the floor of the ocean. But I don’t think I’ve gotten there since my training on day one. I’ve asked the instructor for a call later today and she’s going to try and make time for me. But I do worry that my $1000 investment might not be fully paying off.
Anyone have any experience or feedback? I want this to work!
UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your help and feedback here. I found it all extremely useful. My biggest take away was to not have any expectations, and to take everything that comes as it comes. Hoping or waiting for something was going to get me nowhere. Once I understood what everyone was sharing and a brief chat with my TM coach, everything has changed for the better. I’m not nearly as restless in the sessions as I used to be, I feel a different level of calm relaxation, and I’m not constantly checking the clock to see how much time is left. I’m really enjoying the full 20 minutes now. Thanks again!
