Help! How can my event ask for ID without deadnaming people?

Post Body

Hi everyone! I'm running an event next year (convention for ~500 student-age people) and our venue is requiring that all our attendees show ID when they arrive to register. Unfortunately this means that anyone in the early stages of transitioning who doesn't have ID in their new name yet is going to be asked to deadname themselves with their old ID. It'll only be to our registration volunteers / security staff, but still a shitty thing to put them through.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how we can approach this in a sensitive way? I don't think we can get our venue to relax their requirements because there are safeguarding issues involved (some individuals are barred from the event and we need to make sure they don't try to slip under an alias).

Thanks v much.
