Hi everybody! I just found out this kind of smart trick you can use to get a bit of gender affirming medical care quicker in the Netherlands (might also be in other countries but idk). So, im trans and kinda balding, which is not preferable of course.. I already talked to the doctor, to get put on the waiting lists for gender healthcare. But as most dutchies know, that takes very long until you can get started, and the balding is going pretty quick.. So, i asked the doctors if i could get hair growth stimulating stuff to battle my gender dysphoria and the fact that I'm balding as my two reasons. Two weeks later i had a quick appointment at the dermatologist, and a day later i got my pills, without having any extra costs. A few days after taking them, i was interested in what they actually were, since some side effects were basically effects of estrogen hormones too lmao. And i was right, the pills contained finasteride, which lessens the effect of testosterone. These pills i use are normally used by people with prostate problems, but they also prescribe it for people that want to slow their balding process or stimulate hair growth.
So, if you're trans and it's known with your doctor (and/or the fact that you're balding), i think that'd already be good enough a reason to ask if they can send you to a dermatologist for hair growth stimulating stuff. I've been taking them for a week now and i already feel much better than i used to, so I'd say it's very much worth it!
