For alot of you in this sub, when I was your age, Trans youth had literally no one on their side. Today they do:
Because of people like the ones who post and comment in this sub.
When I was your age, cis hetero kids would have never stood up for their trans and queer peers in the numbers they are today
Because of people like the ones who support many of the people in this sub.
So if you're feeling down about the state of the world, remember, there are many victories for us to celebrate as a community. I'm not trans myself, but I frequent this sub simply to enjoy seeing the positive moments many in this community post.
I am gender-noncomforming, pansexual, and, when I was your age, we marched to fight for all those victories. Seeing that all of you have a chance at a better more accepting world, and that so many of you are already living that in some of the progressive parts of the world makes the work I did in my youth seem worth it. Seeing how many of you are still fighting those fights makes me proud to call you my siblings in arms.
Many of you are sharing images of your authentic selves here. You may not know it, but you encourage, inspire and support others just by doing that. You show others in the community they are not alone. You positively affect the lives of other just by embracing being you.
From the bottom of my heart, I just want to say thank you, because when I need an emotional hug to get through a tough day, I come to this sub, see a posting about someone going in public as their authentic self for the first time, and I suddenly feel better about the world. Your ability to inspire and uplift goes beyond just the trans community, but to many others in marginalized groups.
