Training for a 10 x 5km run

A friend suggested we enter a 10 x 5km run. Each lap starts on the hour, so we have 1 hour to complete each 5km lap, failing to complete the lap within an hour means you're out.

So typically, I run 5-15 km, 2 to 3 times a week, with occasional longer runs so I have no idea how to approach training for this.

Also any nutritional advice would be appreciated for keeping our energy up during the 10 hours (she is vegan).
