Tradfri Remotes on Philips Hue Hub

I have successfully added 5 Tradfri bulbs to the Hue Hub using the Hue Essentials App.

This link is the process I attempted to connect my IKEA 5 button wheel remote using a Hue light bulb and the Hue hub

The red light does not act the same as the red light shown in the video. I can control the Hue light once (turn it off and on with the remote) and then it stops working.

One of the comments in the video says

Beware that the newest TRÅDFRI remote firmware 2.3.014 is INCOMPATIBLE with Hue!!! You are better off not upgrading your remote for now.

Anyone know if the above is true? I updated all my TRADFRI bulbs and remotes through the IKEA hub before moving it over to the Philips Hue Hub.

Or can I only use the IKEA remote with the IKEA bulbs and not the Philips Hue ones?
