Is anyone else having trouble with the motion sensors triggering the lights they are paired to?

I have the sensor stuck on a wall in my kitchen, no more than 2.5M/8ft from the outside door, and 1.8M/6ft from the door to my Hallway. However when I walk in from the hall, or outside, in the time it takes the sensor to trigger the lights, I could have crossed the entire room! Or worse, tripped, etc.

I may have set the sensor up wrong, but one dial is set halfway between the sun and moon (no idea what that dial does, I assume it means over a certain brightness and it won’t activate?) but I’ve tried this at all times of day so that isn’t an issue, just a side not (someone explain please). And the timer is set to 5 minutes.

As well as this is someone is stood at the sink (about 1.8M/6FT from sensor) washing up, drying, the sensor fails to pick them up, this may be due to lack of extreme movement but still, I figure I may be able to fix this.

Have I set anything up wrong?
