Why do tractors still have a clutch?
Post Body
So I’m not a farmer, but my uncle is. The other day I borrowed a New holland t7 245 from him and a dump trailer to do some yard work. Now I’m not new to driving tractors, but after yesterday it had me thinking. Why do these modern tractors that are essentially automatic transmissions still have a clutch instead of using a torque converter? Like this NH shifted with buttons and also had an automatic shifting mode. So if they can do that what’s the need for a clutch?
