How to safely remove soot from stuffed animal?

I have multiple Webkinz Signatures that have soot stains, making their white fur a dirty gray. The texture feels off too. How can I clean them, since they are collectible plush and can’t be thrown in a washer without damaging the fur. Should I look into a cleaner/restorer?
