Given the recent discussion in /r/Touhou, it seems a significant number of people are discontent with the disproportionate amount of image posts over other content, and is causing many regular members of the community to either leave or otherwise not participate. I feel like a lot of it is because of how fragmented the community is with so many separate subreddits for niche interests in an already niche series. Also notably a large number of these subreddits don't get much traffic at all, some with maybe a post every few months or so. Some others, while more active, contain content a lot of users on the main subreddit are asking for. and finally the last few like /r/Youmu, /r/Thestrongest9ball, /r/chen, or /r/awoo are incredibly active compared to both but almost all activity comes from one person.
My question is: who actually uses these subreddits? I know /r/TouhouDev sees virtually no use at all, and when people direct users there, they are commonly met with zero community response, whereas similar posts here have gotten much better response from the community. Also, if you do use them, would you rather have them in said smaller subreddits or here?
