The Lore of Dark Magic Appreciation Post
Post Body

so this last playthrough was fun. Settra’s recruiting and I’m reflecting on lessons learned from my Dark Elf playthrough. I was trying to be as canon as possible and I gotta say CA truly outdid themselves with that faction’s magic.

Power of darkness, Malekith can get 5 stacks and a regular sorceress can get 3. Each use will basically give you 30 WoM within 30 seconds. Combined with one use of arcane conduit and instead of 1/sec, you get <1/sec; shrinking the wait from 30 seconds to spam down to about 15-20 give or take. This means I can give them a round of chill winds from the 3 dark magic users and maybe some blade storms. If you’re using Hydras, the damage they take from the spell is negligible and they regen so nothing really lost except some regen.

I really can’t wait until next playthrough because next time I’m gonna add a fire sorceress in for raw DPS and then it’s really gonna be a party. Fire magic is great and all but once it runs out it’s out and if things haven’t gone perfectly you’re still gonna have a fight left. With Darkness, we can just keep the train rolling until the we see the loss penalty kick in. Oddly enough, this lore tends to leave a decent amount of survivors for the Naggarond internship program…like these spells do just enough damage to hurt and cause penalties but not kill😉
