How steep is the learning curve from M2TW to Rome 2 or Shogun 2?

Post Body

I have M2TW and RTW because it's the only thing I can run, and it's old fashioned. Just got a list of buildings, pick and build, a list of troops which you pick and build. There's no research or complexity, it's just there.

But looking at Shogun 2, Rome 2 etc they have a very different approach. The whole layout is different, you have to research stuff, you can expand settlements, issue laws and a whole host of other stuff I probably don't know about.

The Battles too. They seem much more complex and tactical rather than, just attack the wall. There's diffeent angles, barricades, landing craft etc. And special charges and formations and stuff.

The question is, how hard would it be to get used to these changes? But most importantly, does it make the game harder? Are these changes good or bad? Would I be able to transition easily?

Thanks in advance.
