150% price increase, from 10 to 25€. This is what they are throwing at us.
They are saying everything got more expensive. Sure, let's act like this somehow matters here.
(ignoring that they are a game creator with record profits before price gauging in a medium where you don't need to upscale your efforts to deliver to any amount of people. In fact, their efforts on the main game people care about is non-existant, as this DLC shows, with a horrendous value proposition.)
Inflation is not near 150%. Even if it was. You will not see a 150% increase in pay for employees. If they are lucky, they may gain a 10% raise. Oh wait, no pay rises keep up with inflation.
Where will all the money go then? Investors, and of course, the CEO. So all the talk is worthless to begin with.
This is a thinly veiled excuse to sustain infinite growth. Their cash cow is dying. Total war 3 is the last one They know it's the last one. They are aware people have gotten wise to their other games being quick cash grabs, so the investors are demanding this game make more profits, before nothing is left to milk.
They are accepting that lots of people will not buy it. But with a 150% price increase? They make MORE money, even if only half as many as usual buy it. And then they make more than usual, as the rest buy it at 50% off.
What can we do? One thing. Not buy it. The thing is, that probably won't happen. Most consumers aren't on reddit. They just consume.
What does this mean? Total war is now in cash cow mode. Give up on it. It now exists to be milked before it runs dry. We've seen it over and over. CA is dead. It's a corpse; it's strings being pulled along in a danse macabre.
They ask us to respect them, yet refuse to respect us. They feed us lies and excuses, knowing they can bleed us dry, knowing outrage will blow over. They are correct. But they are bad people. No, not the common worker. Those in charge. Yet the common people are not CA. CA is a corporate husk. A hyena in a feeding frenzy, devouring itself.
It will perish. Eventually. But for now, it is happy, gnawing away. Give up on them. Give up on total war. We've seen it over and over. EA. Blizzard. Bioware. Bethesda, the list could go on forever.
Don't fall for it.
