Watching Large BR Rips on TV

Hello! I've been very pleased with the 1080p HEVC H265 BluRay rips I've been getting from rarbg, but run into the issue of when the file size is >4GB. My workflow is generally pirate .mkv > copy to thumbdrive > insert in Google ChromeCast using dongle > ChromeCast VLC app. But ChromeCast can't support a drive formatted in any way other than Fat32, which has a 4GB maximum. My BluRay player struggles with any kind of .mkv.

How would you suggest watching these HEVC files on a TV, other than plugging in my laptop with an HDMI cable? As spoiled as we are, I can't stand not using a remote to pause/play/fast forward :)

Any suggestions welcomed!
