With Embiid getting his French nationality, was thinking what if Scottie got Canadian nationality.
Barring requests for a trade, a team drafting a lottery pick rookie has them for 4 years, in their 4 year they can extend them or offer a 4 year on top of the original and an extra 5th is possible.
I think if Scottie likes Toronto, we have him for at least 7-9 years due to the fact that rookies can make more money extending on their drafted team that another team.
If Scottie turns into the superstar we are all expecting and he ends up staying in Toronto for 7-9 years, he may end up liking it here.
If he gets convinced to get dual citizenship and play under nurse for Team Canada, he would be revered across the Country.
It wouldn't be a betrayal since team USA is stacked anyways, they are clear favorites every year. Playing with SGA, Murray, Wiggins in Team Canada and winning the Gold would do so much more for his legacy.
