I’m an avid fan of HBO’s The Wire (one of the greatest shows of all time) and found Top Boy to be similar, but with far less depth and complexity beyond the inner dynamics of the various crime organizations. I’ve yet to watch Summerhouse, but now plan to as well.
Very solid writing and character development across the board and I imagine the law enforcement component plays a larger role in season 2/4. I knew that the male junkie was going to play a more important role since he was played by a somewhat notable actor and turns out to be a cop at the end of S1/3.
Just like in The Wire, it seemed inevitable that Deshane would eventually integrate his rival after their S1/3 war, which is best for business.
Love the music selection and distinct British aspects of organized crime versus that in America, especially as portrayed in The Wire. Can’t wait to watch more and the coming final season!
