American viewer here. The writing and acting of top boy are insanely amazing but there are a bunch of issues with the premise I find it hard to deal with.

1. Dushane and Sully move like complete psychopaths. In a real word situation they would’ve both been taken out much sooner due to the both of them being extreme liabilities. There was also no build up to their character personas even in summerhouse. All we get told by Dushane is “they said I was gonna grow up to be nothing” So that was enough to drive you to being a cold hearted lunatic? Sully developed some by season 4 but was still crazy. Dushane never developed at all and only cared about himself.

2. It was was too easy for them to take out gangs that are on a much more massive scale than them. Especially for there to be no retaliation. Why would other gangs not touch the friends or families of Dushane or Sully? It makes no sense. You can’t just constantly kill your way up. They would’ve been dead before they knew it.

3. Sully always wants forgiveness or people to overlook his fuck ups but he never is willing to forgive anyone else.

4. The amount of snakeage in this series is completely insane! Everybody a snake. And not saying this doesn’t happen in real life, but to this extent is completely absurd. Most Gangs wouldn’t even be able to function if there was that much snaking going on daily to that extent. In a real life situation after everything Dris been through with them it’s highly unlikely he would’ve set them up, demoted or not there is loyalty in the streets.

5. Some of the decision making was just crazy nonsensical to move the plot forward. Like Jaq stealing the stash. Made zero sense. Her whole life that’s all she knew. Like Sully said all she had to do was quit if she didn’t like it. Stealing one batch wasn’t gonna make all drugs disappear from London forever. How was she gonna live? Work? No thought went into that. Just like Dushane hiding the fact the feds were onto him. Why wouldn’t you want help??
