I have a lot of problems with spam in my subs, so when I find a bot account in one of them, I just carpet ban them because inevitably if I do not, 3 hours later I am getting reports on the same account in a different sub. I figured out how to put all my subs in the modbutton, so I can carpet ban by checking each box.
My question is, can I select all the check boxes automatically, or is clicking one by one the only way? Its a huge help don't get me wrong, but spam is so bad I find myself having to click every single sub 30 times a day. Any way around this?
Yeah I can definitely see how the abuse factors into the decision to remove it, but I have no less than 150 reports of bot accounts posting “Leakgirls” or “S n a p me and upvote for free nudes” that are in my queue at any given time. I ban them when I see them, but then 3-4 hours later, the exact same account/bot posts in another one of my subs and I have 10 reports on it.
It would be so helpful to be able to ban the bots from all my subs at once so I only have to deal with each bot account once. Instead, I am dealing with 100 bot accounts 60 times each. I’m just tired of playing whack-a-mole with all the spam. I am hopeful Reddit rolls out some tools in the future to help but something as simple as a select all button would save me several hours a day in moderation.
Ah yeah I don’t think I’ll be able to do that. I’m using a Mac and they don’t really have allowances for stuff like that. Thanks for the reply though I appreciate the time.
a spam account will pop up on another subs mod queue while I just banned the user and cleared mod queue in another sub.
This. So much this. I hate it so much. If I could just ban them once and be done forever instead of 10 minutes later dealing with the exact same problem with the exact same account. Rinse and repeat this process. I spend 30-40 min a day just moderating a single bot account.
What sort of automods are you using? The accounts I am dealing with are all 25 days old (I don’t think that coincidence) when they start spamming. They also karma farm in the free karma subs during that time so they build karma as well.
Yeah I am starting a mod discussion about it in most of my subs. I am decent at automod but not great. A lot of my subs have 20 day age minimums and 3 figure karma mins for comment/post and it’s still an issue. I appreciate your time I am just exploring all options and gathering opinions in case someone has a better solution. Thanks again!
Yeah I get that it’s overkill but my choices are either take the time to mass ban, or see the same bot account 60 more times over the next 7 days and just ban as they pop up. Either way the Q gets overwhelmed.
Where would I have a script like this written and how would I be able to make it work? I’m sorry I’m suck a pain but this is a really frustrating time to be a mod. It’s like trying to swim with one hand tied behind your back.

How do you make a macro for Your mouse? That would be huge. I have all my largest subs on my mod button already, but it’s still ~60 boxes to check every time. I just want to be able to select all or multiple at once just so it’s not so goddamn arduous. My (subs you moderate) queue hasn’t been clear in over 2 weeks because I can’t get a handle on the spam. Takes way to long to click every box every time. Then when I don’t, the Q fills up with posts from the same account anyway. It’s almost not worth trying anymore honestly.
