Hey guys
So I let one of my cherry variety plants go wild and grow all the suckers it wanted just to see how it went. Of course, one grew too large and the stem has folded over halfway up. Just wondering where is the best spot to cut - I would think close to the main stem to not waste energy, but am worried the ‘open wound’ might leave the plant open to disease.
The plant itself is just over 3m tall and the sucker is just under 1m. I’ve attached a photo of where it bent (the red line), I tried to trellis it back up but it’s clearly not coming back from the damage.
