A Tolkien-Relevant Tolkien Break
Post Body

Iā€™d like to read some early examples of novels that include ā€œsupplementary materialsā€ outside the main text: maps, languages, genealogies, etc.

Wikipedia tells me that Iā€™m looking for 18th century English antiquarian authors Thomas Chatterton, Thomas Percy and William Stukeley.

Does anyone here have favorite works by them? How about other pre-Tolkien authors whose books included media apart from the main narrative?

Thanks!
