I bought the Deluxe edition of The Silmarillion (waiting for The Hobbit) a few days ago. I've been reading it but noticed the silver on the binding was quickly fading. I was really annoyed and looked online. This seems to be an issue across the board in most cases. It's upsetting, but instead of returning it, I got a silver paint marker and went over all the lettering except Tolkien's sigil and signature because there was no sign of fading. It doesn't look terrible and kind of gives it an authentic feel, but I wish they could have sorted this out for such an expensive edition. For those who have this edition, did you experience the same thing?
