I saw it click in my 2 year olds mind today when we were reading his bedtime story that the baby dinosaur had his mom and dad wishing him good night and hugging him at the same time in the same place. He repeated “mama Dino papa (what he calls his dad) Dino and Leo Dino (himself) several times before moving on. It kind of broke my heart a bit. He has never seen me and his dad together as we separated while he was an infant and I want to introduce more literature in his life that centers around mixed family types. I want him to know that his family is just a bit different.
Any suggestions would be great!
