My (will be two on the 23rd) son will not sleep. He has never had a good sleep schedule and we’ve never been able to get him on a routine despite multiple attempts. I’m recently out in maternity leave and any sense of routine has just completely deteriorated.
Before the past couple weeks the earliest he would sleep was 10/1030, wake around 730/8 and then the nap time was variable either around 10, 1, or 3 for about two hours at a time. If he took an early nap there might be a later nap. But there was a 50/50 chance he’d wake up around 3am and but up until 7.
The last few weeks have just gotten worse and worse. He’s now not falling asleep until 2am, waking around 10, then napping from 3/4-5. Rinse repeat.
We just don’t know how to fix this, holding a nap doesn’t help. Laying down earlier doesn’t help. Books, bath, playtime, snuggles.. nothing or he fights it. I absolutely dread bedtime. I’m so worried about going back to work with this sleep schedule. My husband doesn’t want to try melatonin, he’s just very hesitant. We did do 0.25 one night but it didn’t have an effect.
I just need help, tips, tricks, family secrets. Literally anything please!
