I'm in the UK and largely dependent on public transport, plus I live out in the sticks, so buses are infrequent and finish early. Occasionally that puts a crimp in my plans and I'd like to get a taxi home, plus I would like to know that getting a taxi is an option in an emergency...but how?
None of the local taxi firms offer child seats, they just tell me that kids under three don't legally have to be in a carseat in a taxi. Which is true, but isn't going to stop her going through the windscreen if we're in an accident. Not to mention that their suggestion is to hold her in my lap, which is laughable - she'd be in the front trying to drive.
There has to be a solution to this, surely? A product of some sort? A car seat that's small enough to be stored underneath a pram (big basket - Silver Cross)? I accept that it's going to mean a compromise on safety, but there has to be a better answer than "Eh, don't bother at all".
