I have a very spirited son (25 months) who started a tumbling class this morning andddd I was THAT mom. The one peeling her tantruming child off the floor because he couldn't run wild for 45 minutes while the other kids happily did the obstacle courses and followed directions. I was embarrassed. So that brings me to ask, what should I expect of him, and if it's more than he's currently capable of, how do I get there? Based on the class (2-3 year olds) he was an outlier in terms of patience and willingness to listen to directions, definitely the only one who threw a full out tantrum. I basically just feel like the worst mom.
Seconding everyone else here. I’m a nanny and my 4 year old friend has been in gymnastics since he was 18 months. Every time a new kid joins this is exactly how it goes. I always feel bad for the new parents/caregivers that don’t know what to expect 😂 that’s extremely normal and it’s ok if it continues like that for awhile. He’ll get there.
