TIL: Drowning IRL looks nothing like in the movies, and in fact many parents actually watch their children drown, having no idea that it's happening.

I was a lifeguard and this is super true. I got fired because I missed an audit. There were a bunch of kids that had been messing around all day and I phased it out and missed my audit. It’s so hard to distinguish people messing with the guards, kids goofing around and having hold your breath contests, and the real thing.
Please don’t be those people messing with the guards cause we might miss an actual drowning
